Using the ITD

Hold the facemask as you normally would over the patient’s face. Maintain a continuous, tight face seal during both ventilations and chest compressions. The rescuer who is doing chest compressions must allow complete recoil of the chest wall.

Seal the mask even when not ventilating

Always start ventilations with the ITD on the facemask, then transfer it to the advanced airway when placed. When performing ventilations, do not hyperventilate — it interferes with ITD function. Ventilations should be short, about one second, and just enough to make the chest rise.

You must maintain a tight seal with the facemask at ALL TIMES.
