Effective CPR
You can remember the key aspects of effective CPR with the letters DVD-R. They stand for depth, ventilations, decompression and rate
of compression.

Depth
- Compress chest wall a full 1½ to 2 inches
- More in large patients
Ventilations
- 1 second duration
- Enough volume to make the chest rise
- 8-10/min with advanced airway
Decompression
- Allow complete decompression (recoil) of the chest after each compression
Rate of compression
- 100 compressions per minute
- Limit interruptions of chest compressions to no more than 10 seconds
